Beer at Joe’s header image 2

Writer’s Camp

This summer I’m away at a 6 week writing workshop (don’t worry, Joe has plenty of beer for company). Though I’m focused on writing and critiquing and such, I took a break last night to sample some of the local brew with the fun folks in my workshop. It’s been a while since I got to sit at a picnic table on a warm summer night with mosquitoes swarming all around and try new beer. Tuckerman and Smuttynose

As you can see, the six-pack of Smuttynose is full–I’m hoarding that for myself, later in the week. You know, when the stress really gets to me. The one I shared was a big hit with everyone, Tuckerman Brewing Co.’s Headwall Alt, a bottle-conditioned German style brown ale. I’m generally a fan of brown ale, and this one was especially good, not at all malty or sweet, with just a little toasted flavor at the end. Tuckerman had a few more at the grocery store near me and I’m definitely going to give them a try before I leave. I also tasted BlueMoon’s Honeymoon, which is a nice summer beer if you’re a Blue Moon fan.

Once I crack open the Smuttynose, I’ll let you know what I think!
