After our lunch at Ruth McGowan’s, we had to do some strategic thinking. We were considering trying to make it to a LOT more breweries, but we were dead-set on Lagunitas and Moylan’s, since we’d never been to either. Since it was getting late, we gave up on Russian River and Iron Springs (and Iron Springs’ nachos!). There will be other beer trips…
Lagunitas is basically in the middle of an office park. They have a nice, spacious beer garden and endless variations on samplers–they let you build your own. Our intrepid drivers were getting weary, so we didn’t stay long but we still walked out of there with two t-shirts, a growler of Ryan’s Folly, and a serious buzz. Oh, we had to ask our waitress at least three times for anything we wanted, plus her unsolicited advice about our t-shirts (“That one will totally work with your boobs”) almost made us leave the shirts behind, but overall a fun place. I’d love to hold a party here–a big birthday bash maybe, something that can get loud and sloppy and doesn’t require any complicated orders.
And finally, finally, I get to go to Moylan’s. I got to do an incredibly fun interview with Denise Jones a while back, and I’ve been dying to go ever since. We sat at the bar and ordered nachos (good, but not as good as Iron Springs) and started (well, continued, really) drinking. The bartender introduced us to a “fruity Scot” which is half Kiltlifter and half Pomegranate Wheat. Pretty tasty–lightens up the Kiltlifter and adds depth to the Pomegranate.
