Wine at the Inauguration

By Joe Ruvel · January 19th, 2009 · No Comments

From the UK Telegraph:

“Once again, the 44th US president has opted to evoke the spirit of his political idol Abraham Lincoln, serving the seafood, game and root vegetables he liked best on replicas of his White House china.”

And what wine (there will definitely be beer there but i guess wine is the official drink of the inauguration) is paired with this feast?

First Course – 2007 Sauvignon Blanc from Duckhorn Vineyards in California’s Napa Valley – I love Duckhorn – not sure I have had this one but the merlot rocks – not cheap at all but consistently good.

Second Course – 2005 Goldeneye Pinot Noir from the Anderson Valley

Dessert – Korbel Natural “Special Inauguration Curvee” California Champagne

Go California! Check out the full article to see what food will be served. The only question left is what will you toast our new president with? I am thinking a fine craft beer.
