Beer at Joe’s says No on 8

By Joe Ruvel · November 3rd, 2008 · 8 Comments

Just a brief divergence into non beer related topics. It is political in nature – so if you don’t care then come back soon and we will be back to beer.

Google Ads seems to want to tell all of you that Beer at Joe’s says yes on proposition 8, which is the ban on gay marriage. I just wanted to say that our official stands here at Beer at Joe’s HQ is a big NO on prop 8.

What the HELL? Aren’t we supposed to get, you know, BEER related ads with GoogleAdsense? I don’t ever want political ads on here, much less ones I’m majorly against. I think we are about to switch ad services…
Kudos on the screen capture, Joe.

So i had spike check in ny – it works by region i guess – so probably only people in california will see the ad – and i guess people are just blanketing google ads today with it. Still annoying.

Don’t worry, this propaganda has been misplaced all over my internet surfing. Even on this YouTube video – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=astISOttCQ0 – because I guess Gummy Bears hate gays.

You can remove them from your site somewhere in your AdSense settings BTW. Just ban the target domain for the site and ads linking to it won’t appear.

Thanks Joost – didn’t know you could do that.

I can’t believe that crap passed yesterday:
    YES: 5,195,136 52.1%
    NO: 4,779,297 47.9%

Kristen says that she was always confused by the double negative nature of what the thing was about. I wonder if the 4.2% of voters ended up voting the opposite of what they really wanted.

I am still in shock that the thing was passed.

I am happy the animal thing passed as well as the train item. It would be great to get from sf to mountainview in 20 min.
