Happy Flying

Last week (or was that this week – my brain is still a bit confused from all the traveling)  – Jasmine and I were at JFK and had about an hour. The Jet Blue terminal is new and so has a bunch of nice restaurants. You can even sit in an area that has a bunch of plugs and get food and drinks delivered to you while you do work on your laptop. The beer list on the delivery screens was not good – 7 bucks for a Heineken – no way – but the rest of the terminal had a bunch of options. I decided to go with a little counter area that was not too crowded. And they happen to have  – Brooklyn Brewery’s Black Chocolate Stout.

10% and jet black this Imperial stout made me very happy. One interesting thing was that while the beer was balanced it did have a good alcohol burn in the finish – which for this style I actually think was appropriate.  Two of these and I probably would have slept through the the entire 6 hour flight – which on Jet Blue means missing all the great TV. Thought next time I have a red eye, I might just try 2 big beers before I get on.

Just looking at holiday pics and have to say, “excellent choice on featuring what seemed to be yours and mine favorite brewery this holiday season.” This August I say we visit the actual Leinie Lodge.
Also where is my Brooklyn Brewery Black Chocolate Stout?????? I am going to have to talk to the Liquor Lode ladies in Crandon, WI to see if they can score some of these.

Good luck with that. We can’t even get Brooklyn beers here in craft-beer-crazed California.
But a visit to Leinie’s is definitely in order.
