If you would have described Arak to me before we were in Israel, I would have said I would try it but probably would not love it. But the anise flavored booze is becoming a favorite simple order for me. It packs lots of flavor and goes great with middle eastern food. Add an ice cube and some water and you have an exciting milky drink. Sadly very few brands are exported and a new tax in Israel just kicked up the price here significantly. Still be on the lookout for Arak. So far one of the best I have had is Arak El Namroud Zachlawi.
