Lagunitas Ryan’s Folly

By Joe Ruvel · March 10th, 2010 · 2 Comments

I have been working late into the night recently, and that is real work not beer work. Thankfully, I have had good beer to guide me on.

Last Sunday, we were lucky to get to stop at the newish Tap Room at Lagunitas (more about our N. Cal beer tour soon – Thanks Dan and Jen!). It is a fun, spacey, relaxed, family friendly place to visit. Most importantly, it is a place to score great beer. I have always really liked their stuff, so it was great to try some special beers.

I even got to take home one of my favorites in a spiffy huge mason jar growler. Ryan’s Folly is a confused brown ale on steroids. Lots of piney hops, caramel and dark malt, sweet with a burn of alchol. What is going on here? But it works – still a few days later, I give a nice big smile when I pour a small glass late at night while I work. Go get some – it won’t be around for that much longer – well at least I know my growler won’t.

I saw bottles of the WTF beer at The Liquor Barn in Redding, so that must be available in our neck of the woods as well…
